Just popped along to the viewing. There's a good deal of interesting aeronautica, all W.W.II or era, including a complete B-24 panel, multiple RA(A)F gunsights, lots of instruments, some US gunsights and a couple of pedestal turret controls.

I'd be surprised if there wasn't some stuff some WIXers are searching for.

Had a word with Steve, anyone interested from overseas can e-mail with details and a max offer and he'll take it on board as long as it's before Saturday PM Australian time (which, unless you are in NZ, is before yours).

I took a load of pics myself (Steve has lots up on the website, and the catalogue already) so if there's something of interest drop me a note.

Cheers,

wonder where they have been hiding all this time; did you happen to find out if it was all one collection? it is the kind of town where you feel you have to die there to be a local - but even then ...

This is all one "collection" its the second last auction of the parts from Hughes Trading, the mother load of parts for Australian restorers for the last 50 years, this is the second auction this year and there is a further one planned for @ next March.

Hughes Trading scrapped many of the WW2 aircraft in Australia including some of the PNG airfields, as well as purchasing WW2 Government/Defence surplus materials for many years, I have been buying parts from them for over 30 years and I'm by no means a major customer.

I was down there today taking similar photos to James of the items of interest to me and marking up my shopping list, there will be wall to wall people there on sunday.

regards

Mark Pilkington

James,

Thanks for bringing the auction to our attention. I've contacted Steve with several bids!

Cheers,

No problem, Dean. The more parts that go to fill holes in project the better. If I've helped, it's nice to know.

Good luck!
