P51 Salem Representative pic question

Mon Sep 06, 2010 5:28 am

In this pic of Hofer's Salem Representative, can anyone say what is on the wingroot that the dog is standing on ? Almost kinda looks like some sort of rope ladder thing, but I have no idea what it is in fact.

Looks like a field designed application to protect the wing from damage while undergoing servicing.

In the morning when the wing is wet with dew or a typical English rain you will be less likely to slip and fall off.

No, it is a standard mx tool.... used to increase traction and prevent damage to the surface of the wing.... truly accurate restorations use these as 'props' for staging an airplane for judging... you should have seen some of Erik Hokuff's stuff... like the P-40's at Oshkosh....
