ww2 pilot > indiana mia found philippines to be buried ohio

Fri Oct 15, 2010 11:46 pm

the remains of a ww2 recently found mia pilot from evansville indiana, in the usaaf is to be buried in his surviving brother's town of kettering ohio. arthur frances parkhurst, lieutenant, was found on a philippine island recently by a farmer. the remains, dog tags, & a boot were found, dna test results successful. military funeral in xenia ohio, burial in kettering ohio tomorrow. i'm sorry to any wixers from that area for the short notice if you could have attended. parkhurst was delivering air dropped supplies to filipino guerrilla forces. i wonder what island it was on?? & aircraft involved. my dad commanded a rifle company on mindanoa in 45 & his unit was re-supplied by air drop for 30 days due to lack of viable landing areas in the thick jungle of the interior of the island. my dad's company fought side by side with guerrillas on many patrols. naturally i have to wonder if there was a correlation!! regardless, rest in peace mr parkhurst. no word of other crewmen found.
