Just recently been laid off ( AGAIN ! ) and was wondering if anyone knew of work in the Minneapolis area?

I do webwork on the side, so anyone who needs a website, let me know.

Looking for a Distribution or Software Project Management position, or even anything right now.

3 times in 4 years is getting old, I need to find a stable company!

Hi Paul:

Where you work is very important. If you work under poor leadership you will get poor treatment. Yes, you can be a leader yourself, but the bad leaders will adversely affect yoiur career. I suggest a big company (100+ employees) in need of a web developer.

In a big company, they have the resources to build your knowledge through valuable training.

I suggest starting in your phonebook, and looking for a large IT corporation. If no luck there, look for a web desaigner/IT position at any type of large firm, (ie Bank, Department store, etc.) Computers and webdesign is everywhere, and someone needs a guru.

If you feel too narrowly focused in your virtual skill set; try taking some IT courses and getting a 2 year degree in computer programming/engineering.

There are good jobs out there, but you must market yourself and adapt to a changing environment.

I cross-trained from Mechanical Engineering to Civil Engineering.

I currently have a
BS in Logistical Engineering ( distribution management )
AA 2 year degree in Web Development
AA 2 year degree in Computer Programming
APICS Certification
CPIM Certification

And yet, the companies that I do get to work for are VERY large and tend to be the wrong type for some reason. They start projects of developing new software or internal projects and seem to be mis-guided or underfunded. Even so, I seem to be on the tail end of everything because my lack of time in the company and seem to get let go.

I am almost about to see if I can re-join the Air Force in the next week or so, because frankly, the corporate world seems to be unfriendly to me.

I am also thinking on going into structural mechanics for airframe work, or something within the aviation field, like I should have in the first place, being I love aircraft so much!

Why do you think this is happening? How are you connecting with your bosses? How do they perceive your attitude? Do you get along well w/ other employees? Are you a threat to your co-workers? Sorry for the direct questions.

Like I said, since I get into a company, I am the low man on the pole and usually the first to get let go.

I have a goo repor with my employees and co-workers and bosses.

I have the skill set, yet again, the same reason is told to me, I was the last one hired, so I am the first one fired.

That sounds like an excuse they are making. You ought to keep trying, and use some dogged stubborn looking until you find the right place. Went I went to interviews recently, I got a few job offers, and went with my best gut instinct on which company is the best. If there was something amiss, I would turn it down. How many employees did the companies you were at have?

Don't know who you have been working for but I know that Lockheed there in Egan is doing some hiring for software guys. Hit our website and do a search by location. If you don't mind moving, then do a search on all divisions and any location and the max time period in that check box. What you will see lags 5 calendar days behind what I see on my internal network.

I wish I had those problems,
I have a love of aviation, so therefore I suffer.
I have more work than I could ever need. I have a boss who thinks we should do this for free "because we love it". I think I would love it even more if I could afford a house! Maybe I would like it even more if I wasnt driving a 94 sentra with a broken spring and a bent wheel.

I had a Ford Explorer, until the engine block cracked. Now it's an Exploder. Now I'm driving a junky Honda Prelude with an electrical problem that I'll have fixed in a couple days. You'd have to pay me a lot to be a car Mechanic..

Ok, so I am helping my buddy with his company in the Minneapolis area, less stress and nice to work with a friend of mine.

Anyways, it is less hours than the 18 hours a day at the other job and much nicer to work!
