Good news for the airshow. The article mentions the significance of the aircraft flying in. What about the F-14? Was it flown in as well?

kk,
Since this viking is airworthy, do you know if the museum plans on maintaining and flying this aircraft?

I would have to think this aircraft was donated, or more accurately loaned, is because it is probably a nearly time-expired airframe.

Seeing as how the museum has grounded the rest of their fleet (apart from the revenue-earning Trimotor, IIRC), I would think that HIGHLY unlikely.

I would think that Navy policy would not allow the flying of one of their a/c they give to a museum. They don’t seem to want any ex-navy a/c to fly at all. Because it was flown in and not “demilled” by a local base does not mean it won’t be or isn’t going to be.
Then came that fact is an S-3 worth flying? Its not a money making a/c (in my view, and I like the S-3)

Yes, it was flown in. It is complete with engines, ejection seats, full interior and I think the avionics are even in it. The nicest Tomcat I've ever seen in a museum. As far as the S-3 goes, they plan to display it outside in place of the Phantom, which is a big shame in my opinion. I think it should be put in the New Air Zoo to be displayed with the F-14, A-4, F-8, and F-18. Hopefully they take good care of it and not let it get as ratty looking as the F-4 is.

I know this has been answered before and we seem to be covering old ground here. NO aircraft loaned to ANY museum from USAFM or the NMNA is allowed to be flown or operated in any way...by law !
