Miscellaneous Pics From the Canada Aviation Museum

Tue Jun 07, 2005 9:50 am

A few weeks ago Steve Tournay and I got together to recreate the first ever WIX gathering. Well OK... back in April 2003 it was only the two of us, and this year it was again only the two of us... but we Steve represents the Hamilton Chapter and I the Ottawa chapter... well OK there is only one member in each chapter, but who is counting?

ANYWAY... As always the effort was made for a group picture, and my camera's timer got a shot of Steve and I on the old RCAF Rockcliffe sea plane ramp...

...The ramp is on the opposite side of the field from the Canada Aviation Museum. While we were there a gentleman told us the ramp once extended out beyond the docks you can see in the picture. A dam on the Ottawa river resulted in the water level rising and the ramp shortening, but it gives you an idea just how big this ramp is.

Oh yeah... In case you are interested I also took a few more pictures at the Canada Aviation Museum around the same time. You can find them at...

...The pictures include a shot of the Sabre engine they have on display, and a picture of the Hurricane with the tail removed.

Regards,

Mike

P.S. Pics from the Russell show roadtrip to follow soon.
