Old (and controversial) news. I'm very happy they were saved and some are not very happy they were moved. You can tell in the video that they were not long from falling apart into nothing unless preservation steps were taken.

It looks like that tree had basically grown into or around that Zero they were shoving. It might have crushed it or fell on it if allowed to continue. Those planes look like they were ready to crumble into heaps.

According to Pacific Wrecks, they went to Australia and will become part of the Solomon Islands National Museum.
It's better to have them cared for in some fashion than falling apart in the jungle. According to PW, logging contractors went through some of the islands as late as the 1970s and took what they wanted at will. Some of the abandoned wrecks in the area were also affected by the 2008 tsunami waves.
