Seaplane seen in Chicago - ID?

Back home to Glenview again for Christmas; flew American DC-9 (OK, OK, MD-80, whatever) N969TW. When my brother picked me up, he said he and his son saw a large twin-engined seaplane heading south towards Chicago a few weeks ago. Have any PBYs been around here lately, or could they have been seeing a Goose?

N969TW, former TWA. I got to fly it when it was brand new, and the queen of the fleet. I was hired by TWA in 1990, and since American bought us in 2001 I've been furloughed twice, first time for 5 + years, second time for 9 months. "2 Great Airlines With 1 Great Future" is what they told us in '01.

Pretty sure Chuck Greenhill still owns both Goose and Albatross, and Kenosha is just up the Lake Michigan shoreline. Did your brother happen to notice colors and/or markings?

Not that he could remember, but he did see wingtip floats which makes me doubt it was a PBY since I assume the floats would be retracted in flight. They were in Libertyville, if that's any help...

Also coulda been a G-21 GOOSE with either a FRANKLIN or PAN-AIR float retract conversion................
