Intrigued why nine "dog tags" were found and there were only eight in the crew?

Hi Paul,

Thanks for posting the info. Good stuff. Dumb question, are any parts from the airframe to be salvaged to aid in the restoration of future B-24 aircraft or is this Liberator to be left in place as a monument and testement to those who flew her ? For my own personal note, I would really like to see her brought out of the jungle at some point, perhaps to be restored if enough of her is left in tact for the basis of a restoration.

Just my thoughts of course, but since the Liberator airframes are so scare....I would think that bringing her "home" would at the very least be some sort of option here.

Thanks for reading,

Paul

If you click the second link and scroll down through the picture you will find a sign that reads:
LIBERATOR CRASH SITE. Removal of artefacts is prohibited. Penalties apply up to $180,000 or two years in jail

I would say that would be a no.

But, I've been wrong before.

Yeah,

Silly me, I didn't even think to look at the whole article. Still seems a shame to let her rot away though.

That is ok....They posted it as a memorial type site, so no, they cant be taking any parts off the bird.

too bad, they should take it and make it a flying memorial to all those who served.
