Do you see the top of the mountain way,way in the back of this photo. Thats Snow. we go there when we want to play and then we go home. this was taken today. it was very,very cold. only approx 80. There was no fun at the airport. got a couple pics but thats it. I did however, take a couple of pics of my current project.i saw a post awhile back where someone mentioned the penny they mount on a Pratt motor. here it is. I guess the focus was a little off. sorry,yes there is a penny in there

my front yad is full of snow. I had to put on my boots to go to work today. And a sweatshirt. It was awful. I haven't worn anything but flipflops in years so I got a blister and cried. But it was okay because on the news today they said it would be in the 70's again next week.

Something seems to have gone terribly wrong with the landing gear on that camo Cessna.

It has what is known as "crosswind Gear";

"Many have been equipped with swiveling cross-wind landing gear which allows landing with up to 15 degrees of crab. While the crosswind gear simplifies landings it makes the aircraft difficult to ground handle. The 195 is equipped with a retractable step that extends when the cabin door is opened, although some have been modified to make the step a fixed unit".

I seen a guy ground-loop one with that type gear :(

I've never flown one myself, but my understanding is that the better you are at crosswind landings in non-crosswind landing gear tailwheel aircraft, the more likely you are to bend one of those like pictured above. You have to deliberately land in a crab instead of the preferred and traditional wing-low method. Some Bird Dogs have them as well, though most have them removed.

Last years airshow, Sunday. From the south side of the airport, Wing on a RH Downwind.
We drove up to Mt. Baldy on Monday after the airshow weekend. Saw the waterfall, and snow at 6200'

Yes, it was bought and taken to Chino several (10) years ago. it's the one in the picture near the top of this thread. Don't know what the plans are for it though...

I was at Pima last weekend and there is still a Neptune (at least one) in the same compound that the C-46 used to sit in. I'm going to assume it is the same Neptune as in the pic but I could be wrong.
