L-2 in wartime Alaska

For all you L-Bird fans out there.
Over on the FlyPast Forum someone posted some photos of warbirds in Alaska...everything from a P-36 to a Russian P-39 and UC-64 of floats (neat)
I thought you might be interested in an early L-2...it's not the commonly seen (today anyway) M model.

We know that L-2s weren't widely used in overseas combat, but some made it as far as Alaska.

Refinements;
Photo 12 'HORTENSE' is an F-10, you can just see the camera fairing bulge @ the edge of the tarp.
Photo 18 is another shot of 'HORTENSE' just off the fuel truck's grill
Photo 19 Forgot to mention the PAN AM LOCKHEED in neutrality scheme @ the far end of the line up. PAA operated to/from Alaska to the lower 48 throughout the war.

It's nice to see more pictures from this ignored and forgotten frontline.

just came back from my local air musuem i belong too. Took a long look at the B-29 " Jack's Hack",( not the real one.) Still under minor restoration but god it looks good. The job they did on it is fantastic

Looks like the L 2 in pic 9 is going to need a new nose bowl and prop.
