I agree...Shrimp Boat airframe with a pseudo-B-25 style nose grafted on for good measure. I bet my dad would have loved to have the waist .50 cals and the bombs at his disposal when he was flying SA-16. Shoot and blow up a lot of fish that way.....

I think it is going to the American Airpower Museum on L.I. They posted something about a "guess the airplane" on their facebook page a while back.

It is supposed to be a hands on exhibit.

We came up with the name Albatrocity!

Nice work, to take an airframe headed to the scrapper, and make it in to something that will make a kid remember his or her trip to the museum. Thus saving the real bombers from being used as a static toy. I like it.

I can confirm the Albafort (my name) bomber is a new exhibit at the American Airpower Museum. The final interior finish work featuring a couple of truly slick special effects is almost completed. It'll be a unique walk through type of experience that will give visitors some sense of what it was like to fly and fight 25,000 feet up. Just can't figure out how to get the interior down to 35 below zero!

I've never visited the AAM but have enjoyed seeing it's aircraft at local shows the past several years.

Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends are best for enjoying flight ops. Many of our aircraft fly in The New York Airshow @ Jones Beach which takes place Sat/Sun of the Memorial Day weekend. Our C-47 then flies on Monday as well in our D-Day paratroop drop re-enactments. Sorry, no actual jumping but it is a unique experience we offer to the public. Details on the website.

I kinda like this thing, for several reasons.

* It was built around what is said to be a badly corroded & damaged Albatros -- minimal prospects for survival otherwise;
* I appreciate the workmanship and creativity that went into it;
* It is educational for kids and may pique their interest in warbirds;
* It keeps the museum from having to butcher a real B-17/B-24/B-25/B-29 or whatever in order to produce a walk-through exhibit.

As long as it is clear to the public that this thing is somewhat fancifal and not the "real thing", then I see no harm in it.

That said, I do agree that the Alba-bomber is really ugly!
