FW190 FLIES

Wed Apr 20, 2011 2:47 am

Mid afternoon today (Wedns) Frank Parker took the 190 up for almost an hour on its first test flight in NZ (and first since 2004). Bit murky by that time, so apologies for the rubbish shots.
Two more sleeps till showtime!

Great shots Dave! I'll be there for show time!!!!! :D
Que? What do you mean that it hasn't flown since 2004? Surely not? Where are the wheel doors?

Anyhoo... hope to catch up with you and the rest of the gang over the next few days. :D

Great News! Maybe keeping my fingers crossed has helped, lol. Honestly, I am glad you made it for Easter weekend. :D It looks stunning, I´d love to be there. But I hope for lots of pics. I am certain your guests will enjoy seeing some mock combat between the 190 and the Spit.

This aircraft is the prototype and was the first in the air back in 2004. It only did a few flights before being grounded with ongoing cooling problems etc.
Lower gear doors have yet to be made, however as Dan says, they were often stolen by those pesky bandits
See ya at the show

Dave

Dave-will pass that on to Frank
Dan- Did you get my emails?

The Marlborough Express reported a right main landing gear extension malfunction on this aeroplane's test flight yesterday. The pilot Frank Parker was able to extend the main gear after cycling the circuit breaker and successfully land the aircraft. Any news on rectification of this problem? I made it to Blenheim in one piece BTW... :)

Yes gear problem sorted and a couple of more uneventful flights today. Spit IX, P-40C and Strikemaster down today also.

Sadly it seems that due to some sort of engine/cooling problem the FW-190 is grounded for the weekend and only managed to make one flight at yesterday's practice day. However, those lucky enough to be down there have enough treats to admire such as the P-40C, two Spitfires and the full-size V-2 to be launched Sunday.

V-2? ??
