Planes of Fame Question

Hi. I'm new to the WIX. Just curious as to whether anyone has ridden in any of the Planes of Fame and what it costs to do so. I was able to visit them a couple of summers ago and am interested in going up in the Dauntless. Thanks.

I think the fighter flights are in the $600-$700 range (don't quote me on this) and the T-6 is somewhat less.

Thanks to all. That is a little higher than I expected. I thought more in the $400 dollar range of the Collings Foundation. How long are the flights? I would be interested in the P-38 flight (my Grandfather helped build the engines at Allison's in Indianapolis), but I here it is rather cramped. $600-$700 isn't too bad if it is longer than just the standard 30 minutes.

My uncle took a ride with Planes of Fame a little while ago. Here's his comments:

Hi everyone, how d’ya like my new toy? It is a P51 from the Planes of Fame air museum at Chino airport. The children treated me to a ride in it and what an E ticket it was!! They have taken the old radio equipment out from behind the pilot and substituted a passenger seat. Visibility was pretty good but the ride was a total blast. We flew south from Chino over the hills and he dived down into the canyons and pulled up and around very steeply generating the pilot estimated about 3 ½ “g’s”. We then did several rolls – some with hesitation flew south to west of Lake Elsinore and finished with a low fairly fast fly-by along the runway at Riverside airport.

PJ...It ain't PoF but I'm going for a ride in a dual control P-51 on Wednesday in Acampo, CA. It's owned by Bill Dause and he gets $500 for a 1 hour ride.
If you want to see it, go to "mustangsmustangs.com" click the "Click here for the North American P-51 Mustang" on that page scroll down until you see
"Survivors". Click on the "44-73000" link and he'll be the second airplane from the top.

I checked with PoF and they want $2,000 for the P-38 ride. I'd love to do it but I'm told I'd never get my 6'6" 240 lb. body in the back seat.

Good luck with your ride,Mudge. I have saved to go on the B-24 and B-17 of the Collings Foundation when they come to Indianapolis(Mt. Comfort) the first week of August. I f PoF is that expensive, I may have to wait. PJ

If I recall correctly, One must first join the PoF, then you Qualify to donate the $ for a Orientation flight in one of the several a/c. I think that you may find that you could get a ride in both the B-24 and B-17 for around the same amount as a fighter fight. I seem to recall most fighter flights are start around $700-$800.

But I maybe off base on the $$$ but the PoF has a Message board that this question comes up fairly often.
