Metallic composition of 'Electron'

Tue Jun 28, 2005 2:52 pm

Kind of a bizarre question, but does anyone know or know of a resource that has the metallic composition figure for the alloy 'Electron'.
'Electron' may go under another trade name elsewhere but is essentially a magnesium alloy often used for engine cases (Gipsy engines are an example) and also for seat frames etc (de Hav, Percival, etc etc).
Just after the percentage values for the different metals in the alloy.

Kind of obscure I know but someone will have an answer.

"Elektron" is a trade name of a magnesium casting alloy produced by a UK company. See attached link.

Thanks for that, have emailed the company so hopefully they can get back to me on the subject.
All of the drawings I have for various aircraft list it as "Electron" with a C but probably the same stuff.

Thanks again...
