'Big Beautiful Doll' MeierMotors Update

Sun Jun 19, 2011 3:21 pm

Pardon me please if this has been posted already. As many will recall, it was posted two months or so back that Rob Davies' P-51D "Big Beautiful Doll" had been sold, and brought to Germany, where the MeierMotors team was to strip the paint and re-paint the aircraft, in the same colors as BBD, but now with a bare-alu fuselage.

I had been wondering about this project since then, and I don't recall ever seeing an update posted here, so I went to the MeierMotors website, and found this update, posted May 30th.

And at the bottom of this page there are some recent photos as well.

As you can see in these few glimpses, the aircraft really looks stunning in its new finish (though it has always looked great)!

And some other MeierMotors news and images posted on their news-page:

Great info as usual. When an aircraft is polished, how long does it stay "shiney"? Does it get waxed every so often? Anything special put on to protect the metal?

I'm sure it will get the best of care and not allowed to get to dirty....
