Note both the Mustang and T-28 have civil schemes....and it was printed in B&W.
And note the credit...looks to be the Mustang Owners Club or similar.

Saw a 57 chevy (may have been a 55) on tv not too long ago, the guy had put I think it was a merlin in it. Too much money and not a drop of good taste.

It was a '55 Chevy. I thought it was incredibly cool. To each his own, eh?

The Isetta with the Allison is also incredibly cool. I'll bet it was a handful to drive. . .

While GOOGLING around about this, I came across a copy of an ad from some surplus outfit in Buffalo, NY that ran in a 1947 MECHANICS ILLUSTRATED advertising 'complete, ready to run with all accessories' V-1710-135's for $350.00 ea. F.O.B.

Lytles cars were all square steel tubing and used CAL-AUTOMOTIVE fibreglass repop bodies the FIATglass body was seriously cut and sliced to make it even smaller to make the car look even more ridiculous.

The engines were cheap, abundant, available, and made huge torque and horsepower in the days when car manufacturers praised the fact their new 'BELCHFIRE' put out 135 H.P. It was the era when the guys who had worked on them were getting into hot rodding and speed. That's why lots of them went into Unlimited Hydroplane racing.
Now the 'hot' engine for Unlimitedsis the LYCOMING T-55 -7 from early CHINOOKS, again there's tons of them slowly going back to nature, so that in 65 years someone will say 'GEEZ! if I'da only...........'Look out, the wheel is picking up speed again....
