How recent are the photos?
I thought they cleared out all the stuff after the big auction?

Back "in the day" I don't think any two of the PB4Ys had a similar nose configuration. All were unique, and rather ugly. Some had a curved multi-pane bay window effect, another had what looked to be vertivally-mounted F-86 canaopy.

I recall climbing over one in Boise, circa 1980. I was amused by the outside ladder. Drag wasn't much of a concern to the operators...

Nathan....It was hot in Greybull, the humidity was up there for Wyoming, so considering the altitude adjusted for the relitive humidity and temperatures, there was an expected increase in the BS level...

Isn't that the one Clay Lacy (sp?) bought for 'restoration' into a 377 StratoCruiser?
If so- I'll bet it flies for a little while at least.

So what else was left at the field?
Did all the other StratoTankers and Neptunes get cut up, or...?

Except for the missing nose bubble, that P2V-7 looks very stock. I sure hope it ends up in a museum collection somewhere rather than being scrapped or parted out.

Those C-82 fuselages would make interesting garages, especially if you own a restored military vehicle!

There were 2-3 C-119s down there that were Canadian Aircraft (had the RCAF lightning Bolt and Day glo sections) one that had a jet engine retrofitted to the top of the fuselage.

Are they still there or gone?

I had been trying to acquire one but ran out of time before the auction and figured they were gone.

Yes, the -97 is Lacy's bird.

I recall seeing a total of 4 C-119's there, and two were in Canadian markings, the majority of my time there was spent in "the bullpen" sifting through parts....

There used to be the Neptune airframe out in the 'boneyard' that was being retrofitted with the Allison T-56's off of the Spanish Navy P-3. Was that sold off or scrapped?

That's one plane I wish they would have been able to get the FAA waiver for and fly...some SERIOUS power there.
