Congratulations to all at Vintage Wings on a superhuman effort to get the stringbag back in the sky again!

I wish I could have been there to witness it!

Cheers,
Richard

Helps honor the crews that were crucial in sending the Bismarck to the bottom, gave their lives so bravely striking at the channel dash, and magnificent Tarranto.

Am I missing anything Swordfish fans?

It sure is. Peter Handley, the photographer, is a close friend of mine. Send me a PM, and I'll put you in touch and maybe he can get you a print.

All the best,
Richard

Great news.

Pretty good list, Spanner. I'd add the long hours aboard the escort carriers that ensured Britain remained fed and able to prosecute the war - among other, less high profile yet tough, cold and dangerous tasks.

Don't forget the destruction of the Italian fleet at Taranto. Rad

It was flying off the decks of the Merchant Aircraft Carriers that impresses me. The flight decks were only a fraction wider than the Stringbag's wingspan and there were no lifts or hangars.

EAA has posted on their Facebook page that it is expected to arrive at the show tomorrow.
I'll be getting out there Saturday and Sunday, and I am looking forward to seeing it!

That's beautiful! I have time in the Observers seat on 554! Somewhere around here I have a photo of her getting ready to leave Windsor using my Toyota RAV4 as an APU! Jeez, that was over ten years ago!

Don't forget about the tens of thousands of tons of supplies that never made it to the Axis forces fighting in North Africa because Swordfish flying out of Malta sent it to the bottom of the Mediterranean first.
