I've read about this buzz job before. A low level buzz job of the pilot's house near Carswell. Didn't realize there was a video...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCViKu9X ... e=youtu.beWhat I would give to see a B-36 in flight.

"Hey! I can see my house from here!"

That had to be LOUD!
With a film like this popping up decades later, I wonder if anyone captured images, moving or still, of Paul Mantz in his B-25 camera-ship taking off in formation with a B-36 at Carswell during the filming of Strategic Air Command? Now there's something I'd like to see...

Why do I have the distinct feeling that the photographer "somehow" knew that the B-36 was coming? Seems a bit all too coincidental that he "happened to be standing outside his home holding a movie camera at the ready" in a strategic position when a B-36 by-chance flew over house at tree top level.
The roar must have been incredible. I recall that as an early teen living in the San Fernando Valley (NW of Los Angeles) B-36's were common but flying at extreme heights( i.e vapor trails). Our house would shake, pictues on the wall would rattle and our solid wood front door would go into major resonance to the point where I thought would come off the hinges! I can only imagine the psychological effect that it would haver created to an enemy with scores of B-36's overhead... especially at night.

My dad grew up in San Diego. Convair was in San Diego. My dad said the sound of the B-36 flying around San Diego was awesome. He doesn't know a lot about airplanes, but he does know what a B-36 looks like.

I think that video was shot from two different locations. One on each side of the street. The chances of that accidentally happening in 1950 something was about zero. The pilot must have briefed both of his neighbors who owned motion picture cameras.
