RAF Bassingbourn (USAAF Station 121)

Sun Aug 28, 2011 3:48 pm

I'm looking for a wartime base map, something that lists what the buildings are. A friend has quite a few photos taken by the Photo Officer for the 91st Bomb Group and we are trying to pinpoint some of the locations in the shots.

Any info on the man who took the shots is welcome too. All we know is his name was Capt. Ray. He pretty much disappeared after the war and never showed up at any reunions or was ever found by the Veterans Assn.

They are available from the RAF Museum ,Hendon, UK.

But, reading the info it might not be available because it is still in use by the military.

I was wondering if it's current Army use was why I haven't found anything. Thanks for the link though.

The Record Site Plan for Bassingbourn is indeed available from Hendon, numbered 3489/44.
I believe there may be one other sheet, but I don't have the number for that one to hand.

All the best,
PB
