There is always, a individual of questionable judgement who doesn't get it. Some steal stuff that doesn't belong to them while others spout crap just because they can; others break laws and whine endlessly about their rights . . .
What follows, I found by accident while doing a web-search:
(It should read "Plagiarized" but I decided to leave the original message as it was written)
SOME PEOPLE JUST DON'T GET IT!!!!
Plagorised from PPRUNE
I couldn't believe it!!!!!
What follows is a true report from a US morning journal.

A wake-up call from Luke's jets
Jun. 23, 2005 12:00 AM
"Question of the day for Luke Air Force Base: Whom do we thank for the morning air show?
Last Wednesday, at precisely 9:11 a.m., a tight formation of four F-16 jets made a low pass over Arrowhead Mall, continuing west over Bell Road at approximately 500 feet. Imagine our good fortune!
Do the Tom Cruise-wannabes feel we need this wake-up call, or were they trying to impress the cashiers at Mervyns' early-bird special?
Any response would be appreciated."

The reply is classic:

Regarding "A wake-up call from Luke's jets" (Letters, Thursday):
On June 15, at precisely 9:12 a.m., a perfectly timed four-ship of F-16s from the 63rd Fighter Squadron at Luke Air Force Base flew over the grave of Capt Jeremy Fresques.
Capt. Fresques was an Air Force officer who was previously stationed at Luke Air Force Base and was killed in Iraq on May 30, Memorial Day.
At 9 a.m. on June 15, his family and friends gathered at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City to mourn the loss of a husband, son and friend.
Based on the letter writer's recount of the flyby, and because of the jet noise, I'm sure you didn't hear the 21-gun salute, the playing of taps, or my words to the widow and parents of Capt. Fresques as I gave them their son's flag on behalf of the president of the United States and all those veterans and servicemen and women who understand the sacrifices they have endured.
A four-ship flyby is a display of respect the Air Force pays to those who give their lives in defense of freedom. We are professional aviators and take our jobs seriously, and on June 15 what the letter writer witnessed was four officers lining up to pay their ultimate respects.
The letter writer asks, "Whom do we thank for the morning air show?"
The 56th Fighter Wing will call for you, and forward your thanks to the widow and parents of Capt. Fresques, and thank them for you, for it was in their honor that my pilots flew the most honorable formation of their lives.
Lt. Col. S**** P****
CO 63rd Fighter Squadron
Luke Air Force Base

It is only due to the sacrifices made by the likes of Capt Jeremy Fresques that morons like this have the freedom of speech to make their pathetic little complaints.
What a f*ckwit.

Perhaps PPrune does need a wake up call, for if it were not for the sacrifices of our military men and women he would not have the freedoms that he has.
I was very priviledged to be a part of a military funeral a couple of years ago to honor Carl Hoenshell who was killed on June 10, 1944 flying a P-38 returning from an escort mission. On this flight he stayed with two other P-38 that were shot up. They were then jumped by enemy aircraft and Carl led the attackers away from his crippled wingmen. He was succesful in leading the attackers away, and his wingmen returned to base, however hi did not. Neither his body, or his aircraft were never found. in the early 90's his neice began to see if she could find what happened to her uncle, and through her efforts, and the efforts of many other people they were able to find where his plane crashed. Our Military helped them to recover his remains and return him to be honored and given a military funeral. During the funeral 4 F-15's came from Langley Air Force base to give their tribute to him as his unit is still an active unit based at Langley. I was most fortunate to be the back seater in the lead T-6 formation of 7 T-6's that also flew over the funeral. After that we landed at the local airport and went to the funeral dinner and it was there that I was reminded how much so many have given to protect the freedoms that we have.
Everyone should go out to our cemetary's and walk around and look at the military plaques that are there to honor those who have served our country and us and although those that are burried there may have not died during there service to this country they did serve our country and we all owe them a great debt.
Never forget the many of freedoms that we enjoy today were paid with the blood of our men and women in our military.

I think maby PPrune needs to pack their ass up & move somewhere that DOES NOT have any jets. Just see how happy life is where they don't have our brave service men & women serving our country to keep it safe & for us to exercise our freedoms, including our right to free speech, which some MORONS use to exibit just what unappreciative S.O.B.'s they really are. The sound of those jets is the sound of FREEDOM! I am certainly not the first person to say that, but I do truely believe it. My father flew 111 combat missions in WWII & lived to tell about it. There were a he11 of a lot of brave folks that did not then & will not in the future come home, because they choose to make the sacrfice. So pack it up PPrune. You need to get moving. Go rob someone elses air!

This same type of person moves into the cheap housing near airports and air bases all around the country and then complains when they are surprised that aircraft actually are not silent- especially military jets which don't meet any noise standards and are frequently equipped with afterburners. Then they lobby to close the airport/airbase.
I don't chalk this up to a lack of patriotism, only ignorance and stupidity. This probably accounts for 95% of people that move near airports. I live near Long Beach, CA airport. The worst culprits are the news and police helicopters flying over the 605 freeway, not the noise related to the airport itself. How many of my neighbors would be saavy enough to realize that?

This reminds me of a funeral I attended a number of years ago of a WW2 P-47 pilot who stayed in the Air Force and eventually wound up flying the SR-71. Upon retirement, he joined Delta and had a long career with them.
He was a long-time member of the Civil Air Patrol and flew many hours with them. I believe when he quit flying he had in excess of 38,000 hours.
At his funeral there was a fly-over and missing-man formation done by the local CAF wing in T-6's. A few minutes later, a Delta 727 came over, much lower than the other aircraft departing from the airport nearby, and did a slow turn over the cemetary, straightened, and flew away. A last farewell from his Delta friends.

Guys, you are reading this the wrong way!
PPrune has NOTHING to do with this, other than to publish it!
This is clearly stated in my original posting, as it was written at the PPrune website:
"What follows is a true report from a US morning journal. "
At no time does it say that PPrune condones or endorses this!

a retired career usaf friend of mine emailed me that letter recently, he is an arizona resident, & a volunteer tour guide at luke's museum. he was boiling mad. he flew b-57's in the 50's for most of his career, c-130's in nam etc. the article was via just another anti military winer weiner who doesn't appreciate the fact they were paying tribute to that fallen pilot's job of protecting the sorry s.o.b.'s a** so he could write the editorial. disgraceful!!

You guys need to take a chill pill.
The original letter writer made a very handsome and eloquent apology once he realised what the flyby was about.

that fact was never related to me. i'd like to see the rebuttal / apology note!!

This is the answer from the original writer of the letter (so, in all fairness, here it goes):
Reply from gentleman concerned
Regarding "Flyby honoring fallen comrade" (Letters, June 28):
I read with increasing embarrassment and humility the response to my unfortunate letter to The Republic concerning an Air Force flyby ("A wake-up call from Luke's jets," Letters, June 23).
I had no idea of the significance of the flyby, and would never have insulted such a fine and respectful display had I known.
I have received many calls from the fine airmen who are serving or have served at Luke, and I have attempted to explain my side and apologized for any discomfort my letter has caused.
This was simply an uninformed citizen complaining about noise.
I have been made aware in both written and verbal communications of the four-ship flyby, and my heart goes out to each and every lost serviceman and woman in this war in which we are engaged.
I have been called un-American by an unknown caller and I feel that I must address that. I served in the U.S. Navy and am a Vietnam veteran. I love my country and respect the jobs that the service organizations are doing.
Please accept my heartfelt apologies.
