Just for what its worth our town is flooded badly. The airport is flooded. A N3N and PT-17 gone. :(

Nathan,
Sorry to hear about this.

I took the PT-26 up today and could see the smoke plumes to the Northwest of Hooks near Houston. It definitely made me review our evacuation plans.

People are in denial around the hangar but we have some dry BIG trees that would not take much.

I hope you and your loved ones homes came through OK.

Sincerely,

Don

I don't mean to make anyone freak out, but a few years ago when we had a very long, hot spell one of the TV weatherguys pointed out that even though the trees in your yard are green, they have less moisture content than a 2X4 in the lumberyard. ( and a 2X4 averages about 2 to 4% moisture) Might think about giving the trees a very long drink, shrubs too!

Just a thought. It seems to me that every year that everyone west of the Mississippi River has wildfire and/or some form of drought. I hear of a LOT of flooding everywhere east of the river. Seeing as how billions and billions of dollars of damage are done to homes, crops and livestock that FEMA and insurance money ends up paying for. Why not build big water suction lines that drain the floods to down here to save crops and to reduce the flooding? We pump oil from Alaska, so I'm sure this could be done. It would cost a lot no doubt. But crop, cattle and home losses are pretty expensive too. Just my ranting thought for the day.
I'm sorry to hear that your area is flooding. I've been through that one too. It is just awful.

It was pretty bad in Towanda. I do think they got most if not everything that could be moved to high ground. Don't know anything about the Stearman but I do know that the N3N is fine. I have some pics of the airport at the height of the flooding I'll try to post later.

Thanksfor the info on the N. I think I know the airplane you speak of. I thought this one was in MD. This the one that's painted up like a 1930s pursuit biplane off the enterprise? Talk about inaccurate paintjobs but hey that's for another thread :)
