Seeking info & photos on Greenamyer F-104

Wed Sep 28, 2011 12:58 am

Hello WIX'ers

I've begun looking into writing an article about Darryl Greenamyer and his record setting "Red Baron" F-104. I've been vaguely aware of the story for many years, but looking through old books in my collection and numerous internet sources reveals a truly fascinating story. One that is not likely to repeated.

I currently have suffcient information to write the article, but I want to bring the story to life by interviewing anyone who was involved in the project, especially Greenamyer himself. But if it is possible I would like to speak to those who helped Darryl build the 104 and who were present at Mud Lake during the speed runs. Names I have come across are Roger Davies, Phil Greenberg, Cliff Cummins, Dick Sears, Bob Craft, Ed Browning, and Paul Burke. I realize over 35 years has past and that many of these men may no longer be with us, but are there any WIXers that may be able (and willing) to give me some leads on locating anyone connected to the Red Baron project?

Naturally photos will be important too. So far I have seen photos credited to Harry Gann, Bruce Treadway, Paul Burke, and Tony Landis. Can anyone assist me in locating these photographers?

Thanks everyone.

Chappie
