Spraylat or some equivalent?

I know people who've successfully used pressure washers.

I used very soapy water and then a pressure washer. The soap really helped realease the product from the plexi, but you have to create an opening to get the soap underneath...

A HOT water pressure washer works wonders.

Like all before me have said. Hot soapy water and either a pressure washer of your finger nails to help pick at it.

Good day!

Interesting subject!

We are interested to know if using any of the above methods, does the canopy of F4U-5N Buno 124715, FAH 609 can still be saved? Photo Via Ennio Devoto. c. June 2005.

Blow drier, sure. But I wouldn't recommend a heat gun near anything made of plexiglass. It is too easy to overheat and ruin plexi with a heat gun.

I had a 1953 dated Corsair FG1-D canopy that was a tough one to clean. I started with a pressure washer and continued with a pheonolic scraper and ended up using wet sandpaper of 1000 grit down to 3000 and buffing.

Best of luck,

Good day!

Evidently the angle of the AM sunrays is affecting the plexigalss since c. 2005. It used to be clear color plexiglass when it was located deep into the hangar area. The canopy looks as it has bunch of scratches all over.

We are waiting for better close-ups to further assess the damage.Photo Ennio Devoto
