Suggestion for future warbird postings on WIX

Wed Oct 26, 2011 8:44 pm

Questions on people when they post to WIX - should you or should you have to publicly not reveal and name your sources for the warbird information?

I ask this question as it seems that Mr Kightly yesterday decided to accuse me on here and doesnt wish to understand that i have various sources - and i would suspect others posters on here as well - who pass on information all the time regarding many different things in the aviation world.

Unfortunately for James i didnt see an apology from him either even after i stated how i got my information.

I again ask James what does he think when he gets tips from mates - does he demand his mates reveal their sources of information? What if their mates want to keep private?

My aviation contacts / networking mates who tell and pass on small and large information prefer to remain annon. They are happy with that. It seems James has a problem with my mates privacy.

So i ask the WIX forum - do we have to introduce a new rule now every time ANYONE posts anything here ... which would need to include such details as -

* who told you?
* what you were told?
* did you get approvals?
* where it came from etc?

I again state to James, so he clearly gets the message which he obviously didnt yesterday -

when i get a SMS message on mobile saying "3 Mustangs to fly A68-71-104 and 120 rebuild underway" from a good mate, am i now going to have to ask him to state to me HOW he knew where that information comes from?

What if my sources refuses to state their sources? Do i go around calling them liars and lifting information from other pages?
Cmon James.. am i going to accuse others with same accusation you shoved on me?

So does WIX have to now go down the road of revealing everyone sources or will a post with xx plane is under rebuild and that is it ...........statement still be suitable?

Mods what are your thoughts?

I bet most people will not want to have to state where they get the information from as their sources will not like to be exposed publicly.

I can name my sources quite easily but i would never hear from them again if i did.
They have quite good inside news which i dont always reveal and neither do they publicly.

I knew quite a few weeks ago a specific warbird had some news but i didnt share it as i was requested not to at the time and still havent.

Phil

Thanks TriangleP.

Just to be clear, I have nothing further to say to Phil given the recent discussion.

The guidelines for posting on WIX are here, and already perfectly clear.

Regards,

Anonymity is the curse of the Internet. Anything I post anywhere, I use my full name, Stephan Wilkinson, or if it's one of those sites that allow no caps or spaces, stepwilk. That tends to keep one polite.

Anyone having such queries or suggestions would be better to raise such issues in a PM to one of the mods. Please do so to avoid discussions which can escalate into unpleasantness easily.
