Shuttleworth Collection Sopwith Pup flies again

Sun Jul 17, 2005 1:40 am

The Collection's Sopwith Pup made its first post-restoration display flight yesterday. The markings portray a RNAS Beardmore built Pup serving on HMS Manxman during Le Prieur Rocket evaluation trials. She's not flown with the rockets on yet, but that will certainly be something to look forward to. The aeroplane is a credit to the skills of Andy Preslent and Team who've spent all winter checking her over and re-covering her in this superb scheme and she was flown superbly yesterday by Andy Sephton.

Rob,
great pictures mate and I love the Pup too.
The work carried out by the collection is superb as ever.
Cheers
Andy
PS I find it sad that no one else could find it in themselves to pass comment on something other than a Spitfire or a Mustang.

Thanks, Andy.

I guess WW2 stuff has more of a popular appeal. I guess that's why we see Dr1's being painted red.

I was trying to figure out what "Rockets" you were referring too (I have Dial-up Internet and Have to wait several minutes for pictures to load) Then I saw the last picture, That is a great shot (they all are). I've never seen anything like that before.

Thanks, make me want to go down to Old Rhinebeck for a WW1 Fix.

How is Old Rhinebeck doing these days?
Over here we here lots of dark stories about it being in trouble.
Is that true?
