Verticraft Verticar - Wingless VTOL Transport Aircraft 1961

Check out this article at RetroMechanix.com on the Verticraft Verticar, a wingless VTOL aircraft with an airfoil-shaped fuselage submitted to the Navy in connection with the Tri-Service Assault Transport competition of 1961:

:lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :roll: :roll: and roll control was accomplished by......................? looks like someone had several sheets of 3/8ths plywod and 2X4's and some pallet wheels kicking around the back lot and needed to come up with either a TV/movie prop or a parade float, love the use of a co pilots column from a DC-3, the contemporary (1960's style) application of rocket powered bicycles from the 30's.

I THINK A VARIANT OF THIS DESIGN WAS BUILT - IT DID NOT FLY - AND IS NOW IN THE KERMIT WEEKS MUSEUM.
