This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Got to stop by briefly tuesday morning between flights. The restored He 219 Uhu fuselage and engines are out on display and look great. no wing in evidence yet.
I actually stopped by to see the "restoration center" in the back, but there is nothing there. It is instead being used as a staging area for new exhibits. hopefully they will get everything moved from Silver Hill soon so it will be possible to watch the restoration/ preservation efforts.
It is free to get in the museum but $15.00 to park- an admission fee for the "free" museum.

I'm hearing it will be several months before any restoration work is started on any aircraft. That is only if the budget cuts dont get rid of the entire staff.

There's actually quite a bit there, just covered in translucent tarps:
The Pearl Harbor survivor JRS-1
A good portion of the Go-229
The SB2C Helldiver
The Kikka
The now-removed fake OMS pods from Enterprise.
That's the big stuff anyways. All in various states of disassembly, but mostly still recognizable.

Cherry Bomber-
Thanks for posting those pictures!!! not a thing has changed since they were taken.
BTW all that last pic is a horton glider, not the 229, which I did not see anywhere.
As you can see the view from the balcony area will be great but there's nothing going on in there now.
The "Uhu" looks great and will be really impressive on its gear.

It's wings ARE there. 4th photo from Cherry Bomber, just right of the Sikorsky JRS-1 center section.
They are on a dolly and covered with plastic.
