Flying Legends - a photographer's view

I finally got around to sorting through the last of my Flying Legends photos today. One of the better Legends of recent years, and the sun even shone for most of the weekend.

Good to have met some of you WIXers there too (Ollie, TJ and Dick)

I thought I'd share some of my shots with you, with apologies to dial-up users.

TFC's lovely new Curtis Hawk 75, ably flown by Stephen Grey and Carl Schofield.











Polikarpov I-15bis from Russia.









TFC's P-39, the first time that it had flown since last year's display.

Those banking shots of the Hawk are fantastic!

A breathtaking aerobatic display from Ed Shipley and Jim Beasley in the 2 TFC Mustangs, never more than a few feet between them from the time that they started to roll until they broke for landing.

























And of course Legends wouldn't be Legends without a few more P-51s

















And a Legend in his own right, Lt Frank Oiler, who flew P-47s and P-51s from Duxford with the 78th FG from early 1944 to April 1945, making his first return visit to Duxford since 1945.

Gorgeous shots, Mike, especially of the two Mustangs going over the top in the loop -- beautiful! What are you shooting with? Film or digital? Lenses?

Neil, I was shooting with a Canon EOS 20D and a selection of Canon lenses - 100-400mm L IS for the long stuff, 28-135 IS and 17-40 L for the static and taxiing shots.

Out of deference to those on dial-up, I've opened up a separate thread here for the Spitfire shots.
