Looking for parts for Sikorsky CH-37 MOJAVE

Sun Jan 01, 2012 4:03 pm

As some of you may know... we are restoring the lone prototype of the Sikorsky Skycrane, the S-60.
The craft was built off the CH-37 Mojave or S-56 Sikorsky. We are in desperate need of some parts that the 60/37 shared including the engine pod covers and the tailboom / tail rotor as well as the flight deck pilot's seat and dashboard and gauges. If you have or know someone that has access to any of these parts and would be willing to donate to help keep the project moving along please PM or Email me corsairfas217 at gmail.com

Note the front of the engine pods, these are separate doors/covers that cover the twin R-2800

Wasn't there a posting with photos, of a dark blue CH-37 hull here in the last year or so?? Any possibilities in Tucson?

Sid's on holiday for a couple days - when he checks in he may have some leads for you.

Here is a shot of our Centersection from the 37 and the remains of the destroyed engine pods from the 60. Neither had the engine covers.

Sorry to say that all the H-37's that were stored at Tucson went through the shredder in 2009. There might be the odd one left that is earmarked for a museum. There was one present in National's yard when I last visited in 2010, but again that might have gone by now. There was also one in a compound a mile east of Mojave, CA on Route 58. The yard has now been cleared, but perhaps someone knows where the H-37 went? Local scrapman? The engine pods had been sawn off to make transporting it easier!

Pima has one on display, they would be the first place I'd start, as I'm sure they have better connections to Tucson scrappers than the average bear.
