So they can put a team together to salvage it, more than likely!

As soon as it hit air what's left of it would start turning to dust, doubtful theyd be interested. There are thousands of sunken naval aircraft, how many can be counted that they've recovered, and then how many out of the ocean? Further, the fate of any crew aboard has not yet been ascertained. Forgive my pessimism, but this aircraft will likely be left to be finished off by time, visitors, and the sea. If it is recovered it will be at considerable expense for little gain, even considering the rarity of the model.

It was my impression that the Navy wanted to attempt to identify the aircraft to determine which pilot and crew were lost.

What I posted was sarcasm, because of the history of the navy and "their" aircraft. I agree that shortly after air hits it, it would start to crumble.
