Color WWII Carrier Footage

Sun Jan 08, 2012 7:56 pm

I got this in an email FWD. I almost never look at those things, but this time I did, and was fairly blown away. Apologies if it's threadbare, but I've never seen it here. Anyway, here's the note I got:

A fantastic video. The real thing, in real time. God bless our troops, then and now. 1940's Aircraft Carrier in the Pacific - Rare color footage. This is 16mm color (not "colorized") footage that you may not have seen of carrier action in the Pacific. Not many color shots in the '40's - extremely expensive then, with a complicated and exacting processing process.

Both the U.S. Navy and the Japanese shot most of their war time footage in color.

I think a database error caused the multiple postings. I'll delete the duplicates
