Boeing-sponsored 'hit' film "Fighter Pilot" continues run
In the six months since the premiere of the Boeing sponsored IMAX-format film Fighter Pilot: Operation Red Flag on December 2, 2004 over 200,000 people have watched the film at the Smithsonian Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Va.
"The success of Fighter Pilot: Operation Red Flag is a fitting tribute to the bravery and dedication of the men and women serving in the US Air Force and those of our allies," said George Muellner vice president and general manager Air Force Systems. "The Boeing Company's support for the film has served to strengthen our relationship both with the Air Force customer and local communities at home and overseas where it has played."
Theaters and media from across the country are clamoring about the success of the film.
"We're very pleased by the performance of 'Fighter Pilot' since we opened three weeks ago," said Jim Erickson, Clark Planetarium in Salt Lake City, Utah. "Audience reaction has been amazing, word of mouth has been exceptional and attendance has been strong. In fact, the demand for Fighter Pilot' is so strong that we have added a 5 p.m. show that's normally not on our schedule at all — and are selling that out, too! And, to top it off, against a strong roster of educational choices on our public and library schedule, many teachers have been requesting 'Fighter Pilot.' We're excited for a great summer run!"
