Like most Fairchild PT owners I have been flying around with a venturi tube to run my vacuum run instruments. And it is nowhere near dependable enough to fly with should I need to reliably fly under simulated IFR work under the hood.
My A&P is trying to find a model of dry Vaccum Pump to put on the PT-26.
I know that they originally came with wet pumps, but he is trying to get away from having to use a separator and all the extra plumbing that goes with that.
So are any of you Ranger "Runners" using a dry vacuum pump and can you share any technical details, like make and model numbers.?

tell your A&P to get his head out and put a wet pump on. There is a reason mechanics like dry pumps, THEY FAIL, ALOT, easy money for them, the average life of a dry pump is 6-800 hrs if you are lucky, a wet pump, 3000+.

Are you running just a turn and bank? I put electiric T and B's in my Waco and just eliminated the issue.

I'd like to run an Artificial Horizon and a Directional Gyro in both the front and back seats for doing partial panel Instrument work.
I think I already have electric T&Bs... now that you mention it I need to check that.
Currently the plane just has a venturi tube and the AH and the DHI tumble with just the tamest of turns.
