There were five crashed B5N2s at Pearl Harbor, all from KAGA. All were lost to AA fire. (1)AII-356 was investigated and crashed in Southeast Loch (USN area). (2)AII-35x came down on the US Navy Hospital grounds (USN area). (3)One came down aft of USS Nevada (unrecovered near the base of the new bridge to Ford Island): US Navy area. (4)One came down just north of Kuahua Islet (unrecovered): US Navy area.
(5)The B5N, from which this data plate came, crashed west of the harbor on land, north of Fort Weaver: US Army area. Pilot was Petty Officer First Class Izumi Nagai.
There is much more in my "Torpedoing Pearl Harbor", MILITARY HISTORY mag, Dec 2001...including the testimony from the Shotai leader who saw the plane ahead of himself get shot down then BOTH of his wingmen get shot down (one is Nagai's B5N2 serial 1105).
If you know of any person who viewed a crashing plane in Hawaii, visited the crash, or have photos of or relics from such. You may be in a position to help identify the aircrew and the final moments of combat.
Be aware that I am NOT a souvenir hunter or relic collector.
