Apollo 11 F-1 rocket engines on found Atlantic floor

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos says the five rocket engines that launched Apollo 11 to the moon have been found at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

Pretty darn interesting! Speaking of things on the ocean floor, James Cameron of Titanic fame went to the bottom of the Mariana's trench in the Pacific in a submersible the other day. I wonder if he found the B-32 Dominator that sunk there in 1945.

With all the Apollo launches following the same basic trajectory, how can they be so sure those F-1 engines belong to Apollo 11 and not one of the other moonshots? No matter which Apollo it was, it is still an impressive find.

NASA has a pretty good idea where the first stages of the Saturn V's came down (they tracked them). In addition, Pieces of Apollo 11's (it broke apart on it's way down due to aerodynamic forces) fell around a German ship with one piece actually landing on the ship. From this information, they have a pretty good idea of where the bulk of the booster remains are...

With todays technology anything can be done. Many years ago Howard Hughes had a ship built that was hollow on the inside but from all outward appearances looked like any other ship. But this ship was positioned over a Russian sub and raised it.

I think it was called the Glomar Explorer. We had to get the codebooks and we did.....

Honestly, if they belong to NASA, let them rot..... They can spend the money if they want them back....

If you want to spend a zillion dollars, do something useful with the money. Make some new production WWII airplanes.... More Me-262s, a couple more FW-190Ds, P-39s, P-38s, a B-19.... For that matter some post WWII jets, build a few B-47s or another B58 (wow that would be a money pit there), or anything rather than spending enough money to pay for a week in the Afgan war on picking up a rotten piece of space memorabilia (which probably isn't going to make it to the surface intact anyways (the Russian sub didn't)........

If anyone of us had that amount of money, we could what ever we wanted. He has all that money and he is doing what he wants. I agree NASA should foot the bill but they won't, they are to busy wasting millions on other "important" stuff.
