Seems a bit high for an incomplete static aircraft.

Well, F-104's do catch very high prices, even for just cockpit sections. But this seems indeed a bit steep for an aircraft without engine or cockpit. Also, being ex-Belgian AF, I would like to check the fuselage and wings for corrosion!

Those are Dutch* markings, FYI... Heck, I'd love to have it because of the markings!

The add states it hasn't been demilled. If that is the case it could be made to fly again :) well be it with the guy with the money to do so, I know i wish i could. I've always thought these were great looking.

I know  but the add says it's Belgian built. That means SABCA built and ex-BAF. Dutch starfighters were Fokker built. This one is just painted as a Dutch example, but in reality BAF serial FX-81.

Hi.
Why is it that Belgian Starfighters have such a reputation for sloppy maintenance ?
Our,very Italian,FIAT built F 104s where as well kept as feasible, all versions,to the end of their operational lives.
They were so good that someone still wants them.
Second part of the question:anybody knows about the Starfighters Team/AMI deal ?
Thank You and cheers,

Franco.

They were perfectly maintained! It has nothing to do with maintenance, but everything with storage. After they were taken out of service, they were all stored at Koksijde AB. They were stored out in the open with no protection at all and Koksijde is like half a mile from the North Sea. Salt air didn't do them much good!

I will be happy to take it to the owner.

Fouga23,Hi.

I really didn't know they were stored in the open and so close to the sea.

So this is the answer.

Any news as to the second question ?

Thank You,Francesco.

Not only were they stored in bad conditions, they were also spares recovered. Reason why this one has no engine, cockpit, and I assume many other parts.
