Spitfire Society AGM and visits to Historic Flying and ARCO

Fri Apr 27, 2012 12:26 pm

I've been asked to pass this along ..... :D

The 2012 Annual General Meeting of The Spitfire Society will be held at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford on Saturday 26th May. The meeting starts at 13.30 in the Marshall Auditorium of the Airspace Conference Centre.

As part of the AGM day and as arranged for the last two AGM’s there will be three opportunities to tour around Historic Flying (HFL) and Aircraft Restoration Company (ARCO) during the morning to see Spitfires under restoration and rebuild. This rare privilege is only extended to members and on its own is worth the trip to the AGM!

As last year you will need to sign in at Airspace reception with Society Patron Howard Cook. The tours run at 10.15, 11.15 and 12.15hrs and Peta Cook will conduct three parties of up to twenty members across to the ARCO and HFL hangers. Numbers are strictly limited and available on the day on a first come first served basis so please sign up for the tour when you arrive. The tour is available only to Society members and is thanks to the generosity of Spitfire Society Patron John Romain

The Society AGM takes place on the day before the Duxford Jubilee Air Show so there will be plenty of air show practice activity for you to see.

Members should arrive through the main public gate and drive round to the Airspace car park.

If you present your Spitfire Society membership card at the Airspace Reception entrance which will be open from 10am you will have free access to the whole of the museum site which would normally cost £16.50. We will be welcoming new member applications on the day.

Membership Info can also be found on the web site ~
