May 5, 1961 Alan Sheppard spent 15 minutes going from Florida to the middle of the Caribbean aboard FRIENDSHIP 7.

Incidentally that day, Cdr. Sheppard became the first passenger on NASA Spacelines to Marsh Harbour, Bahamas. Unfortunately, because their aim wasn't that great, he ended up several hundred miles north and had to catch a boat back to town. As such, he became the last passenger on NASA Spacelines. In later years, NASA decided simply to fly their personnel to Marsh Harbor via more conventional means, even though it took nearly 5 times as long to get there.
