a plane is a woodworking tool.

Aircraft's the safe call in English (of any flavour...) But with French and South African machinery on show, I though we'd have a look at their terms, too.

4th picture down, what is the airplane that is parked to the left of the two Vulcans?

The EC-121 inflight, I fairly certain is the NC-121k that was parked and eventually scrapped at Florence, SC.

I'm impressed by the Beaufighter in the 81 Sqn pic. Didn't think there were any of those still going in 1954. Wiki'd it and saw that they were still used for target towing till 1960. The one in the pic looks to be surrounded by 3 DH Hornets but it's too fuzzy for me to be sure they aren't more Mossies.

Great shot of the Valiant, Vuilcans and B-47s. At a SAC competrition? Anyone know the base?..all SAC bases look pretty much alike.

In the color photo, look at the Beverly on the right. Obviously taken at a RAF base somewhere where it's warm. Perhaps an RAAF base in Australia?
Also, the USAF transport (C-118...or a C-54 with windows painted square?) is neat with dayglo.

Great picture of the Connie, a Scooter and a Phantom - all from VAQ-33. The Connie (141292) was retired when I was a little baby sailor in that squadron (it was MANY years ago!) and ended up in that sad excuse for an air museum in Florence SC. She was, I think, the last 121 flying for the DoD. She came to a bad end when the museum closed - the local ne're do wells and vandals pretty much destroyed her, and I think a fire ruined the rest.

And how about this collection, any of you modelers have a collection like this?

It reminds me of my Monogram Air Power kit...and then some!

As a kid I remember seeing that photo in encyclopedias. A great shot, it has to be from 56-58....the B-36s were gone soon after as was the F-94.

I can't believe three of the types are still in service...and I've flown in all three.
