On Craig Ferguson last night....

Fri May 18, 2012 12:21 pm

Anyone catch the Craig Ferguson shows that he's doing from Scotland this week? Last night he was talking to some cute brunette in the atrium of some hotel/restaurant and hanging in the background was some model of Spitfire, 5 bladed prop and double cannon barrels on each wing....not sure where they were town wise (wanna say Glasgow?) but would be curious to know where and what model of Spitfire this was....neither of them had a clue what type of plane it was even though both are pilots (the girl asked if it was a single seater)....but it got my curiousity up....

I saw the show..the Spit is Mk.21 LA198. The girl was Ariel Tweeto, of the Discovery Channel TV show "Flying Wild Alaska." She's working on her Private Ticket..but being a young kid, she didn't know what a Spitfire was, or even what war it fought in. When Ferguson asked if she thought she could fly it, she said, "well, if I can land my 152 I could probably land that..." Of course the funny thing is, during the war Spits were flown by kids much like her, often with even less training than she's had!

Ferguson knew the basics..it's a Spit, and they fought in the Battle of Britain, but that's about it.

Here's the Spit from the show:

I don't think I would ever willingly board any aircraft piloted by someone who doesn't know what a Spitfire is, even if she is cute.

She's an 18 year old kid who grew up in a bush town with a population of less than 700 people, 1, maybe 2 teachers and 10 or 15 students from 1st grade through grade 12, graduating classes of 1 or 2, combined with three or four neighboring villages, maybe a senior class of 9 or 10. You don't get to Unalakleet by car, you fly, sled, or go by boat, distances are discussed in days of travel not miles, once you leave a village, until you turn up at the next village you literally don't exist, a trip to Anchorage is like going to New York would be for a kid from a small town in Kansas as far as 'gee whiz' factor. Love folks who have no idea of just how gawd awful big Alaska really is.
Yes her parents own a scheduled air carrier but she knows 180's and Twin Otters and bush Cubs, not warbirds.

That's Mila Kunis. This is the show from last night, but I'm not sure it's the right one.
Oh there she is. Your cutey shows up about halfway through the episode. She's a hottie.
