I agree. I wish the Collings Foundation would paint there TF-51 either as Ike's "The Stars Look Down" or as that overall red War Weary two-seat razorback that belonged to the 4th FG. It was the 4th yes?

A few of those pix fuel the controversy on whether or not the star & bar was toned down on some natural metal a/c. Some look really white, others, not so much.

As an aside, during a recent visit to the Pima Museum, I looked over the remains of a wrecked P-47 that they have in a display case, including a section of star & bar. Although the material was obviously aged, the "white" portions appeared uniformly cream colored and it didn't appear to be aging, although I may be incorrect. Maybe someday there will be proof.
