Welch & Taylor's Buick at Pearl Harbor

So I'm trying to do some research for fun and am wondering what make and model was the Buick Welch and Taylor were driving on December 7th? Ya know, convertable / hardtop? 2 door / 4 door? Make and color? EXACTLY how many bullet holes were in the car, etc...

Any info is welcome and appreciated!

Good question. I'm curious to hear an answer too. It would make a great museum display with an early P-40.

Probably wasn't shot up as bad as Afflecks and Hartnetts convertable.

Years ago I was at a car show in Ohio and there was a black or dark car from the era and it had been completely restored. But they saved the window from it with a bullet hole from the attack. Included in the display was a write up. SO long ago now, I have no idea if it was their car. This would have been around 1998

If you find out what model, try asking the members on the Buick Club forum or the Buick forum on the AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) site.

They could tell you how rare the model is and whether some are out there for restoration. It would be a must have if you have a PH-marked P-40.

I've always wanted to drive a Straight Eight Buick. I've always thought the "Fastback" style of the '41 was one of the prettiest cars from that era. When they were affordable, I was too young to buy one. Now that I'm older and could buy one, they're no longer affordable.

It doesn't say from Drew's link that that Buick was the one that Welch and Taylor were in. Regardless, that Buick is one historic car and should be on display somewhere like the P.A.M. on Ford Island. So Im not 100% sold that this was the car. Does anybody have any further proof or evidence?

SO that means that we still haven't hammered down the real car that they used. Regardless that Buick (and the story that comes along with it) is pretty fascinating.

1941 BUICKs were getting bloated and ugly and looked like DODGES, 1940's looked better, and the most graceful were the 1939's with that beautiful waterfall grill. So find a '41 and punch it full of holes. I'll wager the original has long since gone back to nature being in a 100% salt air humid climate, and being just 'an old rust bucket' no one cared about in post war years.
