looking for a b-17E called tangerine

Sat Jul 14, 2012 10:05 am

Hi everyone,

while out at the desert rat build site recently, I started hearing rumors of a B-17E by the name of Tangerine. The rumor being that it might still exist somewhere. Does anyone here know of a difinitive site or book for noseart for the early -17's? this one would have been at Macdill and Sarasota airbases with the 97th before going over to England. I dont have a serial # but any photo would be outstanding

thanks

i've been looking into kickstarter hadn't heard of rockethub but will check into that as well. (going to have my lawer friend look over legalities on such things for private restorations) As for pic's ill try and get the most recent progress uploaded to here in the next day or two for the non facebookers to see. Mike and Chris have been going gangbusters (along with the rest of us when we can get there) and it looks nothing like the photos that are still floating around from the early 2000's. I've found that those photos tend to give the wrong impression and there are still many who think she's decades away from flight, which isnt the case at all.
