That's a really fascinating photo! Note that there is a bar in the national insignia which places it in at least 1947? ... I thought they'd all been scrapped by the end of the war, but this one looks almost brand new! Any ideas?

That would be BuNo 30312. An almost identical photo of her can be found in Steve Ginter's book on the Sea Wolf.

The setting for the photo is NAS Norfolk in 1948 after she'd been assigned to Air Technical Torpedo Development Training Unit. She was considered to be, in all probability, the last surviving TBY-2. (*sniff*)

I should have a complete static finished in about 250 years... :rolleyes:
