Tommorow is the Battle of Britain Parade

Sat Sep 15, 2012 4:14 pm

Tomorrow is the Battle of Britain Parade

To me this is not a time of solemn remembrance, that is Remembrance Day.

No the Battle of Britain Parade is a celebration, of young people barely adults that screwed up their courage and stood their ground for freedom against oppressive odds.

The Battle of Britain Parade is a celebration of an amazing victory that stopped the invasion of Europe's last freehold and made possible the eventual invasion of Europe on D-Day and paved the way to returning freedom to Europe.

It is a celebration of the courage, skill and talents of ALL those involved from the erk on the ground crew that worked all night, the observers and controllers that worked through the bombings and the danger, the radar station crews that kept going when they know they were targets and of course the pilots and aircrews that flew against the odds using skill daring and courage to overcome being out gunned, out numbered and out of time.

The Battle of Britain Parade must be a celebration, to do otherwise would not truly recognize the stand that the people of this amazing generation made.

My thoughts

Remember of course the pilots were form many countries beside England and including Canada, USA, New Zealand, Australia and other Commonwealth and non Commonwealth countries, like Poland.
