AD-4 Skyraider N409Z

Fri Sep 28, 2012 12:15 am

Just came across a photo of this AD-4 at the Planes of Fame Grand Canyon facility. I'm not used to seeing this airplane, can anyone speak to how often it's flown, who normally pilots it, etc. Good looking Spad.

I remember when Jay Cullum owned it. Great time watching him flying the pattern at Madera in the 80's in a never ending attitude change from lift off to touch down.

While I have enjoyed this bird performing at Chino on a number of occassions none of them have been quite as memorable as that of Mr. Cullum at Madera in about 1984-85. First time I had ever witnessed a Skyraider in flight and I've never seen one wrung out to such an extent since. Very good memories!
