Interesting note about a DC-3 of the US State Dept. I wasn't aware of such a veteran in such government service (excluding the FAA DC-3, of course).

This is the DC-3 plane the State Dept denied to Stevens and Security Support Team at U.S. Embassy in Libya October 5, 2012

Dos anyone have any idea as to how many similary marked aircraft are operated by the DoS? It would be interesting to know what are the A/C types in their inventory.

This beauty used to fly over my house on a regular schedule when she was in the Miami Valley Aviation fleet....with ROUND engines!
Her early service life was RAF/RCAF.
