Interesting note about a DC-3 of the US State Dept. I wasn't aware of such a veteran in such government service (excluding the FAA DC-3, of course).

I'm not commenting on why this came to our attention, just that it seems interesting to me that it exists.

it graces the tribal areas of Waziristan, and most of Afghanistan, its pilots are NVG rated, amazing that the Douglas goes on and on,ad infinitum.

Dos anyone have any idea as to how many similary marked aircraft are operated by the DoS? It would be interesting to know what are the A/C types in their inventory.

From flak jackets at D Day in 1944 to anti missile systems in 2012. You've come a long way beautiful!

This beauty used to fly over my house on a regular schedule when she was in the Miami Valley Aviation fleet....with ROUND engines!
Her early service life was RAF/RCAF.
