Need Help finding an A-26 or similar variant

Hello all,

I have a special favor to ask.. I’m with an ANG Unit and I’ve been asked to help find an A-26 (or similar variant). This aircraft was flown by our Unit in the early 50’s in the RB-26 configuration. We would like to acquire one of these aircraft to display at our base. So here comes the favor part. I’m requesting your help in finding leads for this aircraft. An ideal find would be an aircraft that is not airworthy and could potentially need large amounts of work. We could work with it as long as a majority of the exterior parts are there and the aircraft could even be disassembled.

So there it is. Please help us out if you have any information/leads.

I got the impression that he wanted a derelict. Not a dual control restoration that looks to be 90% restored , nor did he want a flyer.

No this is the one I was thinking about, but the photos and even the last post was much earlier this year than I thought it was, (January), but I must have looked back into the thread recently to have remembered seeing it here?

In anycase - here it is -

Took a quick day trip to Phoenix to visit some friends and wanted to update my files on the birds roosting @ Globe airport that I had not seen in over a decade.
On the way home stopped @ Santa Teresa airport to update my files on the Invader there.

With all the stock and recently airworthy former Buffalo fire bomber/A-26s on offer in Canada, I would have thought this one would be available cheap as a static museum piece?, perhaps even a long term loan or tax deductable donation?

Just freshen up the paint scheme and leave the onmark cockpit as is.

Hey all,

I apologize for not responding until know. I have been tracking the thread and I appreciate all of the post's. I have contacted several from the information above. I'm still looking and actively research this myself. Please keep the lead's coming in.

RickH is correct in that I'm looking for a derelict type aircraft.

The picture Mark_Pilkington posted is the condition AC I'm looking for. I'm doing more research on that Aircraft. The nose/wings/front windscreen would all need mods to make it look like one of our old planes but it's not out of the question.

Been in storage for many years with Aero Trader but I believe it was pretty complete externally when he got it, and he already has another Invader. Can't hurt to ask.
